Summary:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for System Design Integration Engineer to join Rolls-Royce Defence Business in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
You will be working in a team of engineers, both within Bengaluru and around the world, hence a strong team working, and interpersonal skills and behaviours are must. This role will require an ability to liaise and interact with personnel at all levels throughout the internal and external organisations, via effective communication, across multiple disciplines, departments and sites. The ability to plan and manage your own work and that of others, as required is essential. You will also be expected to support continuous improvement initiatives and to demonstrate the company values of Trusted to Deliver Excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Apply understanding of Gas Turbine packaging product operation, product systems, sub-systems and interactions. Integrate and manage interfaces.
- Design of systems using Systems Engineering principals including the use of Robust Design tools & techniques to achieve optimum solutions at product and sub-system level.
- Problem resolution experience including ownership of, for example: root cause investigations, problem reports, Red Tops, Safety Alert Reports (SARs), Quality Concerns, Major Quality Investigations (MQIs), Drawing Alteration Requests (DARs). Dealing with ambiguity.
- Applying knowledge of the importance of determining, managing & flowing system level requirements.
- Planning and management of product change, design technical approval and technical investigations.
Qualifications:
- A Master's or PhD in either Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering, or a relevant Science or Applied Mathematics degree.
- Knowledge or experience of the design, validation, production and/or operation of gas turbine and/or reciprocating engines will be an advantage.
- Engineering knowledge and experience that is relevant to one or more of the fields of: Thermodynamics, performance, thermals and heat management, stress, dynamics/vibration, and component modelling (e.g. computer simulation, finite element analysis) Mechanical design of components, assemblies and systems.
- Requirements management and ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking to a range of technical problems. Knowledge and experience of product integrity and liability, and certification frameworks would be an advantage.
- An understanding of the importance of quality in engineering and experience in applying quality procedures and processes. Ideally, experience in applying process improvement techniques and driving business enhancements.
- Will be able to exchange complex technical ideas and information in a concise and logical way, over a broad and wide range of topics.
